I gotta add this.
It's my understanding that the electrolyte has been immobilized by adding a
material like fumed silica (Cabosil). This allows the sulfuric electrolyte to
stabilize.
The problem is that the immobilized electrolyte may deform and crack
degrading the performance of the cell.
I used Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) which is quite a bit different
and more expensive.
I would have to agree with Phil, the conventional flooded cells are the
most cost effective.
