Hi Frank,
Sorry this is late, I overlooked it. The hydraulic cylinder would be
powered by a pump in my earlier description. Even if there is pressure pushing
against the rod end, it is held in position by the valve thus requires no power
to maintain position. Unless actively using the system the pump would not be
running.
