Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Rudder angle indicators

Thanks Jim,
will explore this a bit more. I'm sure Frank would be interested in this
one also. The fuel gauge would be great, very little to do there.

Alan,
My friend has applied these units to train and car models. He assumed
that the rudder post, for instance, would be inside the sub. The
sending unit works in gasoline and Diesel fuel, perhaps a light oil in
a flexible package would work.
Another item: digital calipers have remote readout attachments. I
don't know if the pickup slide could be potted in epoxy and still
function, I understand it picks up the magnetic pattern in the beam.

Jim,
Thats a really good idea.
I pressume the tank sending unit was outside the sub. Do you have any
details on how he went about making it pressure
resistant.

A friend has used automotive type gas gauges, both the meter and tank
sending unit, for angle indicators. Trucks can have round Stewart
Warner type dash gauges larger than typical hot rod types. The gauge
is back lite and is 12 volt.
