Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Rudder angle indicators

Hi Frank,
I assumed the "battery included" was a mistake.
I haven't seen any other items or information that says anything about batteries.
Normally you buy the magnet separately.
This looks a similar item but with smaller internal diameter & nothing about batteries.

I have ordered but are in discussions over the $30- they want to charge for freight for something that weighs a few grams & fits in an
envelope. Might threaten them with David Bartsch, he works for the postal service.
If you want to hold off ordering till I get mine, I'll be able to tell you a bit more. I'm thinking that if it's 10k resistance for the 360 degree
turn, It will be 5k if we use the 360 as a 180. (hope that makes sense.) I've been looking at LED volume displays or tuning displays that
you see on stereos but haven't found a suitable item yet. I have come across a few circuit diagrams that might do but would prefer to
buy something ready made.
I am going to encase the potentiometer in acrylic to protect against pressure & shorting.
Like your splash guard. With the shape of your sub you'd be particularly vulnerable to waves riding up it.
You could make the plates look like feathers to go in with the bird theme you've got going there.

Hi Alan. That looks real good. I noticed as "power supply" it listed "none, battery included"
Does that mean it has a little battery so when the magnet moves across the disk it sends out a signal as mili-volts  or can you just plug in at 12 volts. Looks very interesting. I can see LOTS of applications for devices like these.
