I had a look at the video link, & it looks good.
As you said the underwater application is a problem.
Thats why the magnetic potentiometer is good. The magnet operates it through 
a protective casing.
I bought a bunch of reed switches today & will make up something compatible 
with Jens unit in a
couple of days.
