Hi Alan,One of the videos he has online tests glass fiber and carbon fiber to destruction. The Glass Fiber units collapsed around 350psi and the carbon fiber units collapsed around 1300psi. It would appear that carbon fiber definitely has the advantage. I'll investigate an invitation with him in some capacity.

Hi Jon ,I've been googling professor Carl & found his home page with links to severalarticles & videos. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/carl.ross/page3.htminteresting stuff. I'd read & been told by a composite engineer that there wasn't much difference between fiberglass / epoxy & carbonfibre / epoxy as far as compression was concerned. However his carbonfibre models were going to 3 or 4 x the pressure. In his "My Space" site he says he would like to meet people interested in submarines.Perhaps you could video link him to the Psub conference. Alan
