Hi Mark,

Just one thing to add along with the other posts.

Think about the paint thickness. This can really mess up the size of the
groove. When I fitted my hatch O ring I messed about with various
different thicknesses of cord to try and compensate for the paint. In the
end, I had the hatch seat re-blasted and painted it again with a much
thinner coat. I still had to use a custom O ring. In fact, I had lots of
O ring issues with all my seals until I could get the right ones for the
job. I used this place in the UK for all the seals and they made me loads
of custom rings and cords. For example, the normal through hulls should
have a 16 x 2.5 O ring. Couldn't get the bar through. 16 x 2 felt like it
wouldn't seal. 16 x 2.35 went through fine and seals. No leaks at all.
