Hank, yes the rings are T-shaped.

Brian, I haven`t designed any reinforcement pad. You mean like the Pilot
fish?
I can see that is a good way to strenghten the area. From my FEA analysis I
had to beef up the thickness quite a bit in the tower reinforcement.
