 Hi River,Thanks', that is what I was wondering about.  I am worried the contacts will burn the oil and make them less reliable.  I do like the cooling effect though.  I am using 50 amp 12 V trolling motors.  Hank

 Hank,Alvin used to use oil compensated relays back in the 70's. They had a transformer oil specially mixed for by Hoover vacuum cleaners. They apparently had a hell of a time, because carbon nodules would build up on the contacts and gum up the works.
They ditched all of that sometime in the 80's when they went to brushless thrusters and now keep all of the high-power electronics in a titanium enclosure.
What do you plan on using for thrusters? Minn Kotas? and what voltage do you think you'll run?
