RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Unlimited air supply?

A friend of mine passed me some info on this guy a few
days ago and I have to admit I'm very intrigued by it:

http://www.likeafish.biz/

In a nutshell, ...
I personally have my doubts as to whether this tool
will ever be compact or safe enough (if it even works)
to replace SCUBA tanks like the inventor hopes, but I
could easily see an application for submersibles and
submarines.

If nothing else, very interesting concept.

D: Sadly, I checked it out already, and yes it is a 'nothing else' interesting concept.
I think one needed 200L of water each minute to supply air.
So instead of compressed air, one needs a whole lotta power and a good pump.
If I had a nuclear power plant, maybe it would make sense.
It WOULD have a better duration than MEA, which degrades.
MEA is used in powerplant co2 scrubbing. It is nasty toxic stuff much like lye, I think.

I'm curious if using electrolysis is power-comparable to that centrifuge process. An electric sub *could* allow either/or propulsion or power generation. Has anybody considered this? I was intrigued by the idea of (sci-fi) small radioactive or body-powered implants that take the water in your blood and would start to produce oxygen to release when 02 drop. Of course, co2 is a problem too - would ? baking soda? sorta Ph manipulation help? My bud Ryan's stepsister has some rare acid-blood condition, and eats lotsa baking soda to deal with it.

Although unpleasant, could a face mask be used to feed O2 enriched recycled air to the nose, with exhale thru mouth to water remover 'n co2 scrubber, to make the cabin air more efficient?

Has anybody built a sub with 1ATM air normally, but the option to use 2+ATMs for the occasional deeper wreck dive? Of course, nitrogen bubbles would have to be dealt with as per scuba diving.

Given that my eventual one-man sub proof of concept motor will be housed in stuff pulled from a dump, I had considered using 2+ATMs of inert gas to buttress the shell 'n also address the H2 offgassing from batteries simultaneously. Thoughts?
