Do you have some examples of matched freq drives and motors that would do the job?

 

I am partial to SEW products because I think they are bullet proof but after talking to there Tech’o, he said I would need a DC supply of 560 volts to feed the DC input on the Freq drive. I then looked at dropping the AC supply to 230 V AC three phase by using motors designed for the States to bring the DC required down to 400ish Volts but the motors only rate as high as 30KW.  Further to that how would I then use the motor to generate? Would I need a separate rectification process to dump the voltage back to the batteries when the diesel is running?

     what do you need a 40 to 50 hp motor for. and at what percent do you intend to run at 100% output. buy an off the shelf 3 phase ac motor run through a freq drive and power with dc. all freq drives take ac convert to dc and reconvert to ac at the required freq. this will give you speed control and reverse. all you need to do is miss the first step. assume that we are talking about a three phase motor at 480 volt 50 hp the full load amps are 65 amps per leg. up your voltage, reduce your amps,

Ideally I am looking for a D C motor between 50 to 75 KW with a working voltage of between 96 and 144 that can be used for generation as well as propulsion.  

 

Can anyone offer any advice on?

1.     The availability of D C motors that fit this range,

2.     Other options (I will be running 48v batteries but this is not set in stone)

3.     There availability in the States or UK Europe.

 

Most industry in AU is AC and we don’t have the luxury of the DC range available else where. I would also welcome any advice on the pros and cons of different control systems.

for my actions or death. Just come over with it and show me how to operate it on

some dives. Happy to put you up at my house while you are here. I'm sure that will

be some years from now until you decide to get rid of it and go to another project,

but keep me in mind when you get to that point.

I found a solution.

Maybe Euronaut will someday sold to another person.

I prefer an US-Citizien. If he died - because he handle the sub wrong or
something failed - and his wife cry a court - I have not to much worry
about it. A German citizien will never have to leave
Germany to go to an
US-court. He is safe in Europe.. I think same is in the opposite
direction. And a german court will give the remaining wife not more than
some 10.000 USd for a dead father of her childrens.. Very low rates here
for dead..

Please note that I am a naval engineer. If I sold the sub to another
german and he make a mistake and died.. a german court will teach me
that I am responsible for that dead.. The simple reason for that is that
I have the knowledge and he not.

Last year a scuba-instructor dives together here with a young diver
(with licence) - and the young diver died. During the died of the young
diver the Instructor was on 30 meter deep and the young man on 8 meter
deep far away. Later the court found this instructor guilty - because he
has the better knowledge. Please note that instructor was NOT the
teacher of the young guy - which has allready made his diving-licence
some weeks earlier.

Here the court looking allways for somebody is responsible - even it was
a single man - single sub accident.. Maybe the builder or if not
available the owner of the lake.. whatever..

Somebody has to pay..

If a child here follows a ball/bird and runs on a higway (Autobahn - no
speed limit here) with cars running 240 kmh (about 150 miles an hour) an
a car hit and kill this child - the will grap the driver for shure. The
law here says simple that you have allways to drive at a speed you can
break under all possible circumstance..

Euronaut will end in the hand of a Museum or a US-Citizen
and Peppers in a Dutch or German Museum..
