Thanks for the input Steve, and don't worry, I don't take offense.
Your electrical friends are right,as to the cost.
D.C. systems are more expensive when you get to higher voltage
systems.
A large sub like Carsten's would be VERY expensive to power with D.C. and
would probably require custom made motors. Also, D.C. motors are heavier and
larger than equivalent A.C. motors, especially in the larger sizes.
I still think a small psub is inherantly simpler with a D.C. system, but
fire is also a concern.
Again, keep the good advice coming.
