Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] big brother?

But what then of gun clubs, if some idiot uses cheap reloads in a gun notorious for having issues with reloads (like the early glocks) and the thing blows up in the guy's hand... the club isn't responsible for darwin candidate #32042342, he is. How can a club incorporate or organize like that and have no liability for it's members, so long as they aren't acting in the persona of the club. (I.E. acting on behalf)

How's that handled?

And before anyone goes off on the gun tangent, I was just using it as an example to illustrate an organization that limits it's liability while in a "dangerous" field.

I see a lot of talk about seperating PSUBs.Org from liability, but I was wondering... Why not just incorporate as a professional association, require all members to sign a waiver stating they accept full responsability for their safety and the design/operation of their vessel.
Hey guys Dean Ackman here from Duluth Mn. newbee that cant spell
psubs yet.

But my two cents worth on discussions of late.

First from my experience, waivers and such from an organization excluding
them from liability are not worth the paper they are written on.

If psubs were to incorporate and apply standards they still can be held
responsible for these standards. A big no no.

I believe things are just the way they need to be. Just a bunch of
people with the same interest and idea sharing. The get togethers
have to be nothing more than a bunch of people getting together
with no official org.

On the other hand safety precautions are a given at such events.
I was on the local sheriff rescue squad here for years, and I can
Tell you we can not expect real assistance form these types. They
Are not trained in such rescue situations. What every individual
should do is have his own directions on he plans to accomplish
A rescue. And yeah he ough tot keep this info on the surface.

The reality here is everyone is responsible for themselves and it
Is up to them to make emergency plans.

I myself have in mind a releasable float and line that a cable can be
pulled to the surface and attached to some sort of device. Don't even
care if it is tied to a boat and I am pulled to say shallow water were
divers may assist what ever it takes. Every rescue mission is different
and I feel we need to keep the KISS rule in mind in this org.

Not to mention I am not a prejudice person I hate everyone,
BUT EQUALLY. If an individual does not provide for his own
emergency procedures then well he be dead and will not be
able to contaminate the human gene pool. I know cold sob

What I would like to see is a few of the gurus in this area
volunteer (at the builders expense) when asked make a
trip to give advice and informally look at construction and
design before any serious problems may occur. Drawings and
such are great, but nothin like givin the tires a kick.
