Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] riding higher
Dean,
If I may...
It would be a bit of a challenge to "purge" these coils of unwanted air when
it's time to submerge again, a compex pump or evacuation system, would be
required.
The folding mechanism, as all folding mechanisms are, is subject to failure.
Particularly tricky if one side works only to leave you unstable.
Take a close look at the various submersibles in the online Busby manual,
and them google them individually. You will see the best solution to the
higher freeboard issue is a variety of standard MBT / Saddle tank
configurations.

I think this was the subject a while ago. Someone was trying for
extra buoyancy at the surface.
I have started my concept ideas, and a thought about using firehose
for a deflatable buoyancy apparatus. I am thinking to coil them under
an out hinged compartment. When pressurized the compartment
would fold out like wings and give me a higher ride and stability.
The fire hoses are all tested at 600psi and are available in several
diameters from 1 to 4 inchs usually 50' long. They also come with these
really cool
brass fittings on ends with O rings and neat places to tap in a valve
and an air supply.
Just thinking again
