Had I owned a helicopter after Hurricane Andrew in 94, I could have paid it off, (as others did), in a few short weeks of work down here.
The same I am sure could probably be applied, to the Pro-Sub, (ABS / Lloyds certified) industry under certain conditions....ie offshore oil industry, search and recovery...etc.
Nuytco, is just the type of outfit to be positioned to take advantage of such opportunities, and I imagine this organization is a gathering of just these types of big players.
This would be an advantage of certification (hire ability) but, ....boy what a price to pay for the individual to get in this game just to be ready on the off chance you would be needed somewhere! 

I'll be happy sniffing around the bottom in the Keys!

The website is interesting...thanks.

It seems to be geared more for serious research submersibles, than personal
ones. I looked at their 2006 convention itineary and it looks like they get 
some impressive people to attend and speak.
