Dan.If I use my main ballast tanks with a small bubble to achieve neutral
buoyancy, and the small trim tank for adjustments, wouldn't I get less buoyant
as I descend?
I read where ABS recommends having a slightly positive buoyant condition
and using vertical thrusters to maintain depth so a sub with total failure of
all systems would float to the surface.( Can't drop weight, can't blow ballast,
Can't motor up.)
I understand the concept of adding lead proportional to the load, but
shouldn't the boat be neutral with main ballast empty of air?
Redundant systems for blowing ballast, dropping the emergency weight, and
powering from auxiliary batteries/controls would help.
