RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] 2006 PSUBS Award voting is open

Absolutely.  If Stan wants to nominate Kittredge for a Kittredge award, that's fine with me.  I didn't intend "I would be more supportive" to be interpreted as "it ain't gonna happen", and I apologize if that's the way it sounded.  I think Stan's posthumous nomination idea is great.  I hadn't considered that angle before.  My only caveat is that it wouldn't be productive for us to give a posthumus award to Archimedes for example (stupid example I know but the only one I can think of at this time in the morning), hence my comment regarding contact information of someone that would be able to physically accept the award.

With respect, would it not be fairer to have members nominate there chosen award recipient and explain why, Psubs circulate a list of nominees and why they have been nominated and by which member, then ask the membership to vote accordingly.

Stan,

Kittredge received a "Lifetime Achievment Award" in 2001.  Check the "2001 Awards" link at http://www.psubs.org/awards/.  Kittredge would definately qualify for a Kittredge Award, but frankly that seems a little corny to me.  I would be more supportive of a "special recognition" award.  Just my two cents.

I would support a posthumous nomination and award as long as you provided contact information for a relative of the nominee who would accept the award.

I haven't discussed any of this with Ray, but it sounds like we'll need to talk about it soon.

Hi Ray;

I have 2 questions.

1.  Can I nominate Kittredge for the Kittredge Award?  I don't see that he has won an award from PSubs.

2.  Are posthumous nominations accepted?
