Regarding surface support, for those considering light weight ambient or wet
subs, consider a relatively inexpensive pontoon boat.

Prices are Canadian, so Americans get an even better deal.

One or two subs could be stacked kayak style on deck and launched easily.
Installing ballast tanks to partially flood the bows to help L&R would
require some thought.  A boat winch would help.

Obviously this is not intended for the type of boats Joe and Vance are
discussing.  For those I'd still consider the Hikino solution: sink the
entire pontoon boat to launch, coffee pot and all.
