[PSUBS-MAILIST] ABS pressure vessel certification for new materials.

Happy holidays guys!

I've been wonder a bit about what is required to get a ABS certification
for sub made from a (currently) non-certified material. Does anybody
have any insight or experience with this?

I'm guessing that it would require:
 - submitting results from destructive tests of the pressure vessel
material. Would this have to be performed by a third party or
some certified lab or test company?

 - submitting a method/process/plan for detecting defects in the
   pressure vessel material.

What else would it require?

I'm thinking that it might make an interesting project/dissertation
for Marine architecture/engineering masters or something.

Cheers,
  Ian.
