Rick,
You mentioned your rudder controls being hydraulic
cylinders coupled back to back. One acting as actuator and the other as
slave. It's a very simple system and will work fine above water, but how
about when your down deep? Won't the water pressure act on the area of the ram
of your slave cylinder and keep driving it inward?
I was thinking of a similar system to control a
manipulator with. If I do use it, I was thinking I would have to use all
double rod cylinders so there is no differential area between the two sides of
the pistons.
A double rod hydraulic cylinder has a rod
sticking out of each end that is connected to the one common piston. This
design has equal areas on both sides of the piston.
Do you have a better way of over coming the
problem?
