Cody, All kidding aside, I feel that ROV's are remarkable in what can be done with them (driven into small area such as was the case in the Titanic exploration), but rather than being seen as a competition to human occupied submarines, these two technologies should be complementing each other, and be found working side by side. Depending upon the depth you are going for, the larger wire may work better. Also, I believe Alec Smyth did some PLC work for one of his subs and gave an overview at the 2003 convention.
