Frank, That is such a simple idea its brilliant.  Just use a sidescan Humminbird.  So that is probably what Jim has in mind.  Thinking on the fly here, you would have to rotate the scanner or some such.  I think it would be worth trialing.  Hugh

For a surface boat to track a sub, could a regular "fish finder " be used ? A sub would be a pretty big "fish" and would show up clearly on the little screen.
