Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] concept sketch
Twin screw diesel-electric, with a separate drive motor for each shaft.
Diesel generator for both main propulsion and hotel load / battery
charge in port side hull machinery space. Starboard side hull machinery
space contains high pressure compressor, low pressure compressor and
pump gear. The aft connecting trunk between hulls is within the
machinery space. Immediately ahead of that are battery rooms (except
for starboard side outboard), with doors fore and aft of the alleyway in
this section to provide some sound insulation from the rest of the
cabin, as well as a convenient place to stow hearing protection for crew
entering the machinery space. Starboard side outboard in this section
contains a tool chest / small work bench. Battery rooms are sealed and
independently vented. Gas storage within the main pressure hulls is
limited, with most cylinders offboard in the space between hulls. The
interhull space also houses the fuel tanks, anchors and chain, and
jettisonable drop weights. The large vertical shaft is a well for a
retractable mast which will house navigation lights, sound signal,
radar, VHF antenna, controllable camera/night vision/FLIR, GPS/DGPS
antenna, and any other appendages. Main induction/snorkel for the
diesel as well as compartment ventilation will have to run to the after
sail as well - I haven't worked out the details of how this will work
yet. It would be great if I could incorporate it into the telescoping
mast, but as yet I don't see how that would work. I have had a lot of
crazy ideas while playing with this whole design - the smaller conning
hull was originally to serve as an escape pod, but it got too complicated.

What's the main propulsion? Is the large vertical shaft in the aft

An interesting, very large design!
