Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST]

In a smaller sub, control is more of the limiting factor of top speed.  You can put all the HP you want to it, but if you looping around trying to steer a course, the extra HP is of no use.  My K-350 has four and a half horse power driving it with all three thruster on.  I weave through the water at speed.  Top speed is about 5 land miles per hour. ( Sorry, American )  Much more power would only make it harder to control unless my sub was longer.

G;day Guys,

I am trying to find a model (computer) that I can use to calculate the resistance to movement my sub will experience due to skin friction, displacement etc at various speeds so I can work out what HP engine I need for a desired speed.

Can anyone help with this problem.

What is an achievable maximum speed for a small 2 person 1atm sub?

About 4m long, 1.5m diameter, hemisphere front and convergent tail cone.

Many thanks.

It is really encouraging to heart from people using there subs, it build excitement about ones own!!!
