Thanks for that refresher! It has been over 20 years since I have looked at the diagrams in NA class. Metacentric height is a measure of how stable a vessel is. A point I made that was missed, is there is a point when bring a ship/sub out of water (as the CB drops even with or below the CG) that it becomes very unstable and can roll. Particular attention is paid to large ships during dry-docking at this point because they have rolled off their blocks into the graving docks.
Small subs with landing skids should not have an issue with this but those with a narrow keel could roll over on their trailers when pulled from the water if not carefully secured.
