Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Viewport design question
I was in San Francisco a while back and was looking at the Dennoch. (See
link below) This was the sub built by some Stanford students out of a
propane tank. I looked at their viewport and how it was installed. They took
a long rectangle of 1" acrylic and formed it around the diameter of the
conning tower. The window opening was then cut out and the acrylic was
fastened to the tower. Could the same concept be used but not cut out a
single large rectangle but several smaller rectangles or even ovals. This
way you are using one large sheet of acrylic, but covering several
viewports with one piece. This would spread the stress out over a larger
area.
