Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Deep Flight Challengers Interior

Hi Brent. I think maybe most of the psubs I've seen were painted at the hatch ring just because of cost. I don't see a problem as long as there's a really good epoxy paint being used.
On the gap.....Some are closer than others due to the O ring size and hardness, but again, I don't really know. The Parker info I was using said basically make it as tight a match as possible, make sure there's no radial scratches or gouges from machining, and they give a "squeeze" factor for oversizing the diameter of the O ring. I went with the dimensions the salesman gave me and I think I have a problem, but testing will answer that one. I may need to get my hatch re-machined and then get a bigger O ring. If that happens, I'll likely dovetail the groove a little to keep the O ring in place, as it falls out right now. I just KNEW that info was no good, but after reading other sources, and waiting and waiting.........I went with it. Thankfully I have lots of steel there to add some depth to the groove. Frank D.
