  One fine point to mention...the "shields" you refer to are but a very thin films or sheets of aluminum. These are not terminated to any point but do contact the aluminum covering the other wires...at some point these "shields" contact the bare wire and channel any emi to ground via this bare wire.
 
  These "shields" will not be able to be passed thru any connection point as these are not braded wire as is sometimes the case. It would have been easier had each shield been made from braded wire, but then we would not been working on this problem.
