Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] 2012 PSUBS Convention

Registration for this years Psubs convention is currently open.  The convention is August 9-11, 2012, in Muskegon, Michigan, and is being co-hosted by the Great Lakes Naval Memorial and Museum, home of the World War II submarine, USS Silversides.

In addition to visiting the museum and speaker presentations on technical topics, seven personal subs are currently scheduled to be on display, some of which will also be diving in Lake Michigan.  We also will have the US Coast Guard Power Squadron, Muskegon Sheriff Office Dive Team, and West Michigan Underwater Preserve participating.

The registration fee for non-members is $40 and covers the Meet & Greet on Aug 8 and technical presentations on Fri Aug 10.  Registration for Psubs members is free.  The registration fee is also waived for anyone who brings their submersible (manned or ROV) for public display.  Submersibles for public display do not have to be operational or complete and we encourage all subs in any phase of development to join us.

We will be utilizing the Holiday Inn at 939 Third Street, Muskegon, MI as our official hotel and hosting a  "Meet and Greet" at the Third Street Grill located inside the Holiday Inn from 4:00 - 8:00 on the evening of August 8th (the evening before the convention) so you can check in, then come down for appetizers provided by PSUBS, see old friends, and meet some new ones.  You will need to pay for your own beverages.

Technical presentations will be held at the Museum.  Thursday is Dive Day, Friday is Technical Presentations and "Show & Tell," and Saturday is for tours of the Museum and USS Silversides.  The Museum plans to start the engines so you can hear them rumble!  The Museum will be open throughout the convention, so Saturday is not your only opportunity to see the displays.

More details will be provided when we know how many have registered for the convention, so please register as soon as possible so that we may provide headcounts to restaurants and our Museum hosts.  Come join us for a great convention!
